Just trying to...
...get back to normal. Whatever normal is round here.
Steve Irwin's passing, as Mr Russell Crowe aptly said, "suspended reality for all of us." All of us were shocked and, even more, saddened by the events of several weeks ago.
Pearl, Jazzie and Opal cried intermittently for days afterward. But I think Jazzie took it the hardest. Steve was Jazzie's hero. I mean, of course Danny is Jazzie's hero too, but Steve was the person he most wanted to be like. Like all my kids, he loves wildlife, and he just couldn't imagine a braver person than the Croc Hunter.
I have to admit that I, too, had a tendency to look on Stevo as something of a national treasure. I'd begun to think he was accident-proof. For days after I heard the news, I tried to write about it, tried to come up with some free-verse writing to get my feelings out there and settle them down a bit. But nothing was forthcoming. Maybe someday I'll be able to put my sadness down on paper...and maybe not.
Even Danny scrubbed a hand over his eyes when we were watching Bindi's speech at the memorial ceremony.
I can barely even talk about it now without crying.
But...life goes on.
With that said, I would like to try to bring some semblance of normalcy back to our lives through this blog. Here are a few more houses we've been looking into.
This one's unique, but doesn't have the setup we've been looking for. I love the road name, though.
Waubra
Ripper, but like the first one only a little over 1 hectare of land.
Numurkah
A bonzer place! I love that it is solar-powered, but the 20 acres of bush surrounding it don't look as though they'd support equine life too well.
Wedderburn
Only 2.5 acres, but very nice, especially the round yard!
Strathmerton
This one's ACE! But...you knew there had to be a "but"...it's too expensive for us. Pity. It's already set up as a little horse station, and has a lovely billabong, round yards, spa and GREEN, GREEN grass. But as with the one in Dunach...Buckley's.
Raglan
This one seems nice and is very affordable, but notice the phrase "renovate at your leisure." Code words for "needs a lot of hard yakka to make it livable and fit for what you want to do." The fewer pics they show you, the more it needs.
Nathalia
I really like the kitchen setup on this one, but that fireplace would require some serious reworking...ugh...what were they thinking? Still, 6 ha. and a very, very nice look.
Linton
BEWDY!!! This one is a bobby-dazzler of a place! It's got 5 acres with 4 fenced paddocks, shedding and trees. The garden is set up to grow veggies for market, complete with sprinkler systems (crucial!). The house has split-system air con and several wood-burning fireplaces -- and 2 bathrooms! Also, a bread/pizza oven is set up for even more income if the buyer were so inclined! Strewth, it's really the bee's knees. I honestly think this could be the one. I was wondering what we were going to do for extra income since Danny's supposedly washed his hands of sheep (not that I blame him...).

I will end on that happy note! You want to comment? Avago!
